First Image of Bill Skarsgård in Gus Van Sant’s Dead Man’s Wire

According to CinemaDrame news agency, Gus Van Sant is heading to the Toronto Film Festival with his film “Dead Man’s Wire,” starring Bill Skarsgård. The first image from the film was unveiled simultaneously with the release of the official selections for the 50th edition of the event. It’s possible that “Dead Man’s Wire” might premiere in Venice before Toronto.

This crime thriller is based on the life of Tony Kiritsis and tells a story set in 1977. Kiritsis, a real estate developer, loses his patience with injustice and attaches a “dead man’s switch” to himself to hold a banker hostage, demanding five million dollars and a public apology for the financial and psychological damages caused by the bank. Al Pacino, Dacre Montgomery, Myha’la, Cary Elwes, and Colman Domingo will also star in the film, written by Austin Kolodney.

“Dead Man’s Wire” will be Van Sant’s first film in six years. While he directed more films in the late 1980s and early 2000s, winning the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2003 for Elephant, he took longer breaks between films after Milk in 2008. His last film was Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot, starring Joaquin Phoenix, which premiered in 2018. Last year, Van Sant directed six episodes of the series Feud: Capote vs. The Swans.
